1. Who we are

TripingGuide ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at tripingguide.com. We are an independent travel guide and hotel search service. For questions about this policy, contact us at hello@tripingguide.com.

2. What data we collect

We collect limited data in the following situations:

• When you use the site: We use Google Analytics (via Google Tag Manager) to collect anonymised usage data — pages visited, session duration, approximate geographic location (country/city level), device type. No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics.
• When you submit the contact form: We collect your name, email address and the content of your message. This data is used solely to respond to your enquiry.
• When you click affiliate links: We pass search parameters (destination, dates, guests) to Booking.com. Booking.com handles their own data collection under their own privacy policy. We receive aggregate commission data from completed bookings but not any personal information about individual bookers.

3. Cookies

We use the following cookies:

• Analytics cookies (Google Analytics/GTM): Used to understand how visitors use the site. These are third-party cookies subject to Google's privacy policy.
• Functional cookies: We store your currency preference in browser localStorage to persist it across sessions. This data does not leave your browser.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Disabling analytics cookies will not affect your use of the site.

4. How we use your data

We use collected data to: improve the content and functionality of the site; respond to enquiries you submit; and understand aggregate usage patterns. We do not sell personal data, share it with third parties for marketing purposes, or use it for profiling.

5. Data retention

Contact form submissions are retained for 12 months and then deleted. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' default retention settings (26 months). LocalStorage data persists on your device until you clear it.

We use the following third-party services that may process data independently:

• Booking.com Affiliate Programme (hotel search and booking)
• Vercel (hosting)
