Tucked into Rome's characterful San Giovanni district, Domus Pietrae carries the quietly confident appeal of a property that knows its city well. This is a neighbourhood where everyday Roman life continues largely undisturbed by mass tourism, yet the ancient heart of the city — including the…
Who stays here
Couples
Spacious apartments and a romantic Roman neighborhood, though two-bedroom units exceed most couples' needs.
Solo travellers
Two-bedroom apartments are oversized and likely overpriced for solo travellers; location and pool are nice perks.
Families
Two-bedroom apartments, pool, restaurant, and an authentic yet well-connected Rome neighborhood perfectly suit families.
Business travellers
WiFi and good metro access help, but apartment-style lodging lacks a business center or meeting facilities.

Disliked
There was a lot of noise, it was hard to sleep at night from all the noise you hear from the street.

"Very good location and convenient self check-in"
Liked
The location was great and check-in was very smooth. There’s no need to worry about the check-in time (20:00), as the apartment offers self check-in, so you can arrive at any time. The apartment was clean and basic supplies were provided.
Disliked
From the moment we entered, there was a noticeable sewage smell. Additionally, the bed in one of the bedrooms (a sofa bed) was not very comfortable. While we were aware it was a sofa, we expected it to be more comfortable. There was also quite a lot of noise from outside, and we couldn’t fully close the windows due to the AC pipe, so earplugs are definitely recommended.

The apartment is quite spacious, clean, and well-decorated, located in a safe area. The building is quiet, and it's a 20-minute walk to the Colosseum, with stops along the way at San Giovanni and the Santa Stavia. There's a supermarket half a block away, a pharmacy across the street, and several restaurants, gelaterias, shops (Zara, Kiko Milano, Coin), and a lively street market are very close by. We will definitely stay here again. The check-in instructions are varied but quite clear. If you're an older person not very familiar with technology, it might take a little effort, but the host will surely be able to help.

I read in other reviews about problems with the wifi; one night it did have issues, but we reset it and were able to resolve it.

"A very interesting apartment for relaxation"

Very good location – close to bus stops and the metro, with excellent connections to the city center. Nearby there's a restaurant, grocery store, and many other shops, including clothing stores. This is a great convenience. Clean bedding, everything was ready for arrival, and spotless. Spotless towels, kitchen supplies, a hairdryer, coffee capsules, chips, and water were provided upon arrival (which was really nice). The apartment was well-maintained, comfortable, and spacious. Good communication with the host. Self-check-in and check-out were available.

There was a lot of noise from the street and, I think, a nearby restaurant, long after midnight. The unfortunate window in the smaller bedroom made it difficult to sleep at times. The strange door key, which was provided by an app, seemed convenient, but if someone stole my phone, I don't know how I would contact the host and get into the apartment. I was stressed throughout my stay because without a phone, it would be very difficult. The water heater was too small to heat the water. The last person each day washed in cold water (and we tried to be sparing with washing). The corner shower was damp and probably even moldy. The bed in the small bedroom was very uncomfortable for an adult. Fortunately, the children didn't complain, but my husband and I felt "broken" when we put the children to sleep for the second day. The frying pans and toaster need immediate replacement – the Teflon or other surface was worn off, and no one should use it.
