"Not just completely unsuitable for letting, potentially lethal"

I really hate to give a bad review as this is clearly someone's pesonal property/house and I have mulled this over for some time before doing so but in the end felt we had a duty. Just sorry that I did not write this earlier in case other people booked between our stay and this review but there really was very little to praise. After the first 24 hours was actually very warm. Initially freezing cold and although they had put the heating on it took almost a day to warm up to the point where we did not have to sit in our coats. There was a sold-fuel fire but for reasons given below (and the fact that we have never used one) we did not light it. Good supply of hot water, sofa was comfy. It was quiet and secure. Nice crockery. Did have recycling but no notes as to what was accepted in recycling; ALL plastics? Glass, food waste? etc

In our opinion COMPLETELY UNSUITABLE for letting - please read and see photos. The whole property was in a poor state of repair and grubby. Peeling paint, black mould and stains throughout. Cookware greasy (meat) and a rusty toaster. Kettle was scaled up. No instructions for heating/appliances (TV, Washing machine, dishwasher) or recycling. Hole in front door. Hole in bedroom door. Weak shower (albeit warm) and hard to turn on. Bedding was stained. Pillows all with heavy sweat marks and "white" stains on black sheets. To the point that I slept ON the bed rather than in it! Bed frame was broken (worried it might collapse) Broken blind so people could see in constantly. Overlooked by another house at night. Not many people around on site when we were here but could be a real issue in the summer. Most window locks broken. Loose tap fitting. Radiator in bedroom made constant but intermittent knocking noise. Far too much clutter - too many beds/too much furniture. Did have a washing machine but no dryer. There was a (unheated) airer but in early March not a lot of use. This was bad enough but some of it was downright dangerous: Old/outdated fire equipment. 27 year-old fire extinguisher (dated 1999) with no sign of any service since then and smoke alarm old and stained. Knob on stove was loose and did not work. The hotplate consequently remained on permanently until we switched it off at the wall. No note left to warn us of this. Bad enough for us but if a small child had touched it... Towel radiator far too hot. I burned myself at least twice - again see for children. Loose/hanging light fittings in hallway and kitchen. Genuinely the only booking I have ever made where we considered taking the hit and leaving after the first night but we had a spent a lot of money on a long booking and we were out most of the day so stayed.

"Something for all of our party, swings, lovely beach walks, short walking distance to food and drink"

Liked

Great Location for access to a lovely Beach and IOAC Adventure Centre and in general a great location for visiting Wexford. It is an ideal location for a young family as there was playground, tennis court and football pitch on site. It was also really nice to be able to stroll to the pub and for a tipple and some food in the Golf Clubhouse onsite.

Disliked

The shower in the main bathroom was very difficult to turn on the first two times I used it. I could not turn it at all after the second time. While previous reviews said that it was ideal and safe for a dog, we didn't find this we have a small dog so she could easily get out under the fence and the side gate would not close
